We are not the center of the universe, not even close. We're not special entities. We are monkeys - monkeys that scratch our butts and throw our poo.

I agree with the video, but not the author's comment (excluding the poo part)
ReplyDeleteJust because I'm a monkey with little cosmic significance (which I do believe) doesn't mean my energy isn't eternal (and I do mean my cellular energy, not the "self" which I am a part of now, and which will surely never exist again).
Who can really say there is no "plan" (and please know I use the word plan in the loosest way possible) for a monkey. Can you speak for the universe and say this life is meaningless? When it comes down to it, a scientist is just as lost as a screaming preacher.
Could the human race be an abstract image, painted on this earth to illustrate a point?
Touche.
ReplyDeleteWe will never know and that is frustrating. The truth is that our energy probably is eternal. The Laws of Thermodynamics tells us that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, and there's a strong theory that the energy in protons cannot be destroyed.
Also remember how big the universe is and that it is still expanding like it has been for 13.7 billion years. There's an abundance of energy and life in the universe, which means we are just another living species. The chances of us being a supreme species and created special by a God is very rare (my opinion).
Agreed, anyone who says we are the supreme species is an idiot.
